Does Simpler.Grants.gov allow for e-mail alerts at this point? I see where I can save my search, but I am wondering if I need to use the grants.gov search interface to set up e-mail alerts. If alerts are not available in Simpler.grants.gov, what is the timeline for making them available? Many thanks!!
Saved searches will automatically provide email alerts without the need to sign up for them from an interface. Let us know if you have any feedback on your experience with saved searches sending you emails.
Thank you. I am very glad that my saved searches provide e-mail alerts, and I have been receiving them. Would it be possible for you to have some type of message on the SAVED SEARCH QUERIES page that tells users that their saved searches will create alerts? Alerts are such an important and desired feature, and it is not clear to the user.
Thank you for considering.
Thanks for the input, that is a great suggestion. I went ahead and filed a feature request ticket on our GitHub. I’ll bring it up with the product owners for saved searches to see if we can get that on our roadmap.
That’s great. Thank you.
The search does not seem to offer advanced Boolean searching such as the following:
(children OR teenager) AND (health OR medicine OR psychology)
Are there plans to add this type of functionality?
Thank you!!
Thanks for the second reply. I just went and verified that you can preform that advanced boolean search. You would just need to use the “|” character in place of OR to get the correctly formatted search.
(children | teenager) AND (health | medicine | psychology) returns 1750 opportunities, which should be the expected amount.
Thank you very much for your response.
This syntax is not working for me. Please see below for when I tested the syntax.
Many thanks. Please know that I ask because I provide demos on how to use Grants.gov, and I want to be sure that I am passing along correct information.
Sincerely,
Judy Smith
I believe what you are seeing is accurate. In my example I turned off the Forecasted and Open filters that are on by default (and on in your screenshot), which resulted in the 1750 number that I gave.
With those filters on I am seeing 45 opportunities as of today. (Day by day information can change for grants being open or forecasted.
The exact query I am using is
(children | teenager) AND (health | medicine | psychology)
I can also link you my search directly.
Let me know if this helps. If not I can continue troubleshooting. I want to make sure that your experience matches your expectations!
